This project of mine features stories of first-generation, low-income, minority, and/or undocumented college students and how our struggles are being intensified by the new proposed education budget. While this topic is not exactly your "international human rights issue," it is still a challenge that is embedded in my world. Education should be seen as a nonpartisan issue and everyone should work towards making higher education more accessible to all those who have worked tirelessly to earn it. I hope this video touches in you in some way, and hopefully, can compel you to contact your representatives so they can advocate for us on the floor.
It was my intention to post this on the Fourth of July. Today is a time for us to honor our country's founding, but also reflect on the values that make us American. To me, those values include perseverance, integrity, hard work, and diversity- so today, I will celebrate people who embody these values. After today, I will continue to support their ameriCAN dreams and I encourage you to do so as well.
(p.s. this was my first time editing so bare with me)
